ILMEA

Friendly reminder about practicing for ILMEA. This is an experience that takes a lot of work but is extremely rewarding.

If your student is auditioning for ILMEA we want to make it clear that they should be working on their ILMEA music everyday.

All of the music teachers offer extra help and lessons to help prepare for ILMEA auditions as well! Seek extra help!

The audition date for ILMEA is October 11

From Mr. Anderson

Music classes have started out right on beat with students listening to, feeling and experiencing various rhythms and steady beat patterns. We have experimented with meter in two, three and four using several classroom instruments and moving our bodies to the beat. Body percussion generally compliments the movement and feeling as well. Repertoire utilized in the rhythm and steady beat unit includes urban street music, playground chants, American folk and patriotic music, African-American folk music, African cultural music, Welsh music and traditional folk music from England, roots of rock-n-roll music, and music from Canada.

Third graders warm up with basic rhythm patterns while rapping times tables. As the fall progresses and the rhythm unit adds the layers of melody and harmony, we will be inviting the high school madrigals over to perform for us and give live demonstrations on singing pedagogy and performance.

Mr. A.
