First Music Notes of the Year!

Welcome to another fantastic school year everyone! I know that it might feel like some of us have been here for a long time already with all of the Regiment rehearsals going on but we have only just completed our first week of school.

“Music Notes” are short “newsletters” designed to help keep everyone on track with all of the events and rehearsals going on in the Music Department (there are a lot sometimes!). If you have comments or suggestions regarding these notes please let me know!

This Week:

• Tues – Madrigals 1st Rehearsal 3-5pm, Jr. Regiment 6-7pm, Renegade Regiment 6-9pm, SSMA Meeting 6:30pm
• Wed – Regiment Performs at the Sandwich Fair Opening (8am call time, 9am performance, return to school approx 9:45), SMS Honors Chorale Auditions 3-5pm, Regiment Rehearsal 3-5pm
• Thurs – No Regiment Rehearsal Thurs Night (Wristband Night at the Fair)
• Fri – First Football Game for the Regiment! Call time TBA

Regiment Competition Schedule

The first competitive performance for the Regiment is next Saturday, Sep 13th! We will be seeking chaperones soon. Remember you can keep up to date with the Regiment and the calendar on their homepage and the calendar page.

 

Summer Recap!

Renegade Regiment

The Renegade Regiment had a busy summer!  In June, the Regiment performed in Nashville, TN outside of the Grand Ole Oprey and had a fantastic 4 days of touring the city. The Regiment also performed at Willowcrest Nursing Home, the VFW and for the Freedom Days Parade.

After a short break the Renegade Regiment came back for our annual Band Camp to learn the fall competitive show. This year the Regiment is pleased to announce they will be performing another completely custom show entitled “Regiment Noire.” The show is a spin off a classic film noir detective story where the band members themselves are the suspects. The Renegade Regiment looks forward to a fantastic competitive season, beginning with the Stagg Marching competition on September 13th. Good luck Regiment

Madrigals

The 2014 Madrigals have already begun work to prepare for this year’s Madrigals. They have just completed a Rookie Camp to help new members and took a trip to the Bristol Renaissance Faire for some fun, bonding and education. The Madrigals Dinner is scheduled for December 5th and 6th this year. The event features performances by the Madrigal Singers as well as a Flute Choir, Recorder Ensemble and Brass Quintet.
