Here are a few things you might have some questions about!

WordPress? Isn’t that for Blogging?

Yes and no. Thousands of websites are built from the core of WordPress. Many are blogs but many more are websites you would be surprised to know are built on the platform (CNN, BBC America etc). At its core WordPress is an extreme well-known, reliable and has been downloaded over 16 million times! It will be a great home for us.

The Transfer

Most of the information from our previous website has been transitioned to the new site with two exceptions:

1. I am still unable to transfer a list of subscribers so it is important that if you want to receive email notifications you must re-subscribe using the widget in the sidebar. I apologize for any inconvenience but the structure of Posterous didn’t allow for any exports other than posts and some content. Please re-subscribe for email notifications! Spread the word as well!
2. Some PDF and word documents. Currently some of the documents are still being hosted on Posterous servers. If more and more broken links start appearing as Posterous is officially shutdown, I have local copies of them and can repost if necessary.

Commenting!!

Previously, if any student or parent had a question or comment regarding an event or post the “go-to” place was our Facebook group. This group will still be a great place for conversations and will remain an active hub for the music department, however I have been wanting to provide an option for students/parents who preferred to either not have a Facebook account or simply choose to not frequent social media.

There is now a functional commenting section on our website!

This is a great feature that I  am really excited to have launch with the website. You may notice a few changes as you make comments as I am still experimenting with some of the features and settings regarding comment moderation and spam blocking, but in the meantime, please feel free to comment away on any posts! Questions and comments are all welcome! You may comment by simply providing an email address, registering for WordPress  using a Twitter account or using a Facebook account. If there are questions regarding commenting and how to set up a user profile I will be more than happy to post a guide! If you would like an Avatar (profile picture) to show you must either upload one to a WordPress account or have one set in your other social media accounts.

It Will Still Take Some Time…

I will be adding content and changing some features for some time in order to provide the best website as possible. Don’t be alarmed if pages are appearing and reappearing as you visit the website! I ask for your patience as I learn this new platform as well as create more content for the website.
